On January 7th at 6 pm CT, join the War Memorial Center for a virtual community screening of Medicating Normal, a 76-minute documentary film exploring our current mental health care system and the lived experience of military veterans with post-traumatic stress. This event is sponsored by the Orban Foundation for Veterans with the Charles E. Kubly Foundation and tickets for military veterans are free. Non-veteran tickets are $10.

 

There will be a virtual, interactive community discussion immediately after the film focused on military veterans, mental health, trauma, and suicide prevention featuring Gregory Burek, MD, MS, staff psychiatrist at Advocate Aurora Health, US Marine Corps Iraq veteran; Anthony Anderson, US Army Iraq Veteran, subject of the award-winning film, Almost Sunrise; Dr. (H) Michael Orban, Vietnam Veteran, Author, "Souled Out, Conquering Combat PTSD"; and Angela Peacock, MSW, US Army Iraq Veteran, subject of the film award-winning film, Medicating Normal. The panel will be moderated by Daniel Buttery,  US Army OIF-1 (Iraq) Veteran and the President & CEO of the War Memorial Center in Milwaukee, WI.

Announcements

We are proud to announce that Post 10232 has received a $1000 grant towards the purchase of a new A/C Unit.  This is a very much welcomed, appreciated and needed grant.
 
Lewis Memorial VFW Post 10232 is please that we have received a grant in the amount of $14,000 to assist in building updates and renovations.
 
We have completed the installation of our new Central Air unit. Please stop in during the hot summer months and enjoy the much needed cooling system.
 
Big THANK YOU to Julie Denotter for her hard work and effort in raising the money for the new carpet in the entryway.
 
We have begun the renovation of the entryway. The front wall knotty pine is done and the new advertising screen is up and running.
